The ice is breaking up!

As winter comes to an end and spring has arrived, the ice is breaking up and moving ashore. Below is a picture of the ice piling up on the shore by the boat launch bay.

This is an amazing to thing to see, but sadly we didn't get a video of it. The ice comes in like a giant wave, piles up then breaks off on the shore. It sounds like glass breaking when it happens, and it is powerful enough to move the large rocks on the edge of the shore onto the land! (Don't worry, that dog you see out there is just a plywood dog to help keep the geese off the grass.)

Every year when this happens, it is a sign that we need to get ready for the boaters! With that in mind, we would like to remind everyone about boating safety and to check their boats over carefully before going out. We can help you with that, simply let us know you are coming and that you would like us to help you check your boat before you head out for the first time.
